The National Standardization Body (KazStandart) organizes work on making changes and additions to the General Classifier of Goods, Works and Services (GCGWS) in accordance with the Rules for the development, coordination, examination, approval, registration, accounting, modification, revision, cancellation and implementation of national standards and classifiers, as well as the procedure for making changes and additions to the GCGWS.
GCGWS provides a unified system for classifying goods, works, and services by organizing codes and names for classification groups of technical and economic information objects.
The classification structure of the GCGWS is based on four levels:
GCGWS are used by government agencies, as well as individuals and legal entities in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan involved in the classification and coding of technical and economic information and/or using it in their activities.
The GCGWS section is implemented on the information portal "Electronic Product Catalog" (EPC) of JSC "Center for Electronic Finance" of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The procedure is regulated by Chapter 11 of the Rules and includes the following steps:
The application is submitted through the EPC information system by government agencies, individuals and legal entities involved in classification/coding or using GCGWS in their activities.
Initial verification of the completeness and correctness of the materials on the application.
The draft changes are posted in the EPC for public discussion. After 5 working days, the materials are sent for consideration by the Commission.
The Commission, taking into account the results of the discussion, reviews the draft within a period not exceeding 5 working days. The Commission is formed from representatives of industry authorized government agencies and the NCE "Atameken".
In case of comments, the application is returned to the applicant indicating the reasons for revision.
With a positive decision, changes are made through the EPC information system.
